Greatly remodeled by the insensitive Victorians, but careful searching finds some gems.
I visited for the first time 11 February 2018. The service was held in small hall adjoining the church. It was freezing outside, but the hall was toasting and it has to be the most beautiful and practical bit of modern church architecture I have ever seen. The roof, lined with cedar from the churchyard, is an absolute delight. The service was from Common Worship, beautifully led by The Revd Wendy Evans. Hymns Ancient and Modern, with music from the piano. The seating was comfortable and set out informally. It was a very friendly, unfussy and relaxed setting, with a small and friendly congregation. It came across as a very happy and homely gathering, in a very positive sense. Due to timing, there were no refreshments afterwards, but people still had time for a chat.I understand that once it warms up a bit, the services will be in the ancient part of the church. I look forward to seeing that just as much.
