Lovely cosy pub that focuses on doing two things right, pizza and pasta. The puddings and pints are also highly recommended though. The wood burner warms the historic timbered front room with a simpler cafe/restaurant feel at the rear. Both parts are kept colourful by local artwork for sale. Really friendly staff and plenty of parking at the rear.
When I started to write this review, I was somewhat surprised to see a few negative reviews. Then I noticed that the reviews were quite old, in some cases 2-3 years.I visited with some cycling friends, we arrived around 10, and the pub was happy for us to leave our cars, whilst we went for a few hours riding.We returned to the Pub, and all ordered food and drinks. It was such an outstanding day we decided to sit outside. Most of the food arrived promptly, by polite efficient staff.I had read reviews of that Pizzas were something special. They were Special indeed, probably the best Pizza I have tasted in the UK. We were a group of 8, most of us ordered Pizza of all different varieties. They were all Excellent.Beers to numerous to mention, something for everyone.As a group we have since revisited the Old Kings Head, and once again we were not disappointed.Looking forward to our next visit.
Good pizza amazing selection of gins. Lovely helpful staff. Also I never seen a selection of different sloe gins in one place. Will be back to work my way through them.
Pizza and pasta done extremely well. The menu choice is good and the food is amazing. A good selection of local beers and ciders too make this place well worth a visit. If you dont fancy pizza or pasta then the cafe does a good range of coffee and cakes to tempt you instead. Nice outdoor space too.
