Nice friendly place, very welcoming with great open fires, good food and great service.
Lovely hotel, clean ;good food. Friendly staff made us feel welcome love the quirky unevenness of the floors. Would definitely go again.

Visited this hotel on two separate occasions in one week. Found the staff friendly and the rooms were well presented and comfortable beds. I was disappointed that after telephoning to book room saying I needed ground level as my companion was disabled and was assured there was no problem, to check-in and find no note of my request had been logged. Although an alternative was found it meant stairs. While there we booked for the Friday night after being told they had a cancellation. We were happy with this but again disappointed that it was not pointed out to us that there was a price deal for bed/breakfast/evening meal if booking a Friday/Saturday night. We mentioned this on our departure but was told it had to be done at time of booking. In view of the mix up on our first visit in the same week it would have been appreciated if a "gesture" had been made. Perhaps something for future thought.
Crazy, dropped in for a meal only to find a large proportion of the menu to be unavailable. Ordered trout but was served half cooked salmon, potatoes had green in them.Hope this was just a blip, went there 6 months previous and had a decent meal with great service.Who've is managing the restaurant/food side of the business needs a refresher course I think. Poor front of house too.I'm local but would prefer to drive to an alternative venue than walk down the road to the Scole Inn...... Could be great again with some improved leadership.
